This adage never seems to hold any meaning for me until recently. In my present job, the designation given to me is Senior Database Specialist, though I was never related to database in any manner!! Only respite is,my role requires to do UNIX administration as well as DBA.

This pic was captured by one of my colleagues while on trip to Elephanta caves. This monkey snatched the closed bottle of Fanta from the tourist, opened the cap and started drinking it. Proving that sabse badi pyaas, baki sab bakwaas.

The day started normally. But as it progressed, few good  news started pouring in. The news were (the order in which they came) :

1. One of my former student got 80% in ISC and also cleared entrance for NIFT, Delhi.
2. One of my great friend finally decided to settle down, that is she finally got ready for marriage.

Aren't these are the great news?? So many congratulations to them.

I was travelling on Harbour Line, when I saw a little beggar girl (she must be hardly 9 or 10 years old) begging in tow with a very small girl hardly 5 or 6 years of age. The older one was singing and this 5 year old kid was going passenger to passenger for money. The sight was awful. Moreover when this kid failed to collect money from one side she was clueless what to do and was not moving from there. Then her older mate put some money in her palms then only this kid moved. We are a developing nation, isn't it?

Music:raat nashili mast sama hai....

First of all Happy Diwali to you all. May this festival of light bring joy and peace in your life.

Now the question :

I am having 2 UNIX machines. From first machine I am executing a command on second machine (through rsh). Now how can I get the status of that command (which ran on 2nd machine) from first machine.

The way I used is that on 2nd machine redirect the status of the command ran, in a file and then read that file from first machine. Is there any better way?

Thanks in advance.

P.S. : For a change this is not a PJ :D

The place where at present I am deployed is a circus in its own right (obviously mine is clown's part ;-) ). There you can see people even from the companies, not so heard of. Somebody is expert of SAN, other is expert of SUN technologies, and many other. The one technology which I had never heard of before joining here was SAS, it is some statistical analysis tool. And I, fit here as fresher on backup technologies. It is great place to learn different things and especially human behaviour apart from technical things. Apart from backup solutions my profile also includes scripting - bash and perl. But all said and done, still missing environment of NCST.

I reached Lucknow on Thursday morning. I was trying to give surprise to my parents as I had not told them about my home coming but it was all ruined as my parents came to know about it through one of my friend. My mother had taken off from her office to be with me. Then I told them about reason for my decision to leave NCST. After lots of chatting I went with my mother to watch Krishh, also went to meet some of my relatives. It was a hectic day but worth spending. It was really nice to meet all of them after so long a time. Many more happy days to come. Will update the journal accordingly.

It was on 2nd July that one of my very close friend was having b'day.  But I was not able to wish, as I was not having ph.no. So I celebrated my friend's b'day by going to favourite restaurant, where we used to have lunch, and had a sumptuous dinner. Wishing a very happy b'day to my friend.

Today, by God's grace, I was lucky or else I would have lost my right toe. My toe was about to be crushed by 3 tonne lorry when in a split second I managed to take aside my toe from its path. It so happened that I was coming from Dadar this morning by a bus to office. It was raining outside and I was enjoying the climate. I was not sitting on the window side but near to the passage-way. On a stop bus stopped and when it started with a jerk, I heard "thomp thomp" sound and to my bewilderment a real heavy girl who has lost her balance was heading menacingly towards my right toe. It was as if time had stopped. I was unable to think anything. And as she was about to put her heavy foot on my fragile (in comparison to her) toe, I managed to sneak my toe from under her foot. And yes I was successful in saving my toe. A cold sweat still runs though my spine just thinking what would have happened if that heavy thing have stomped on my toe.

Look at some of the symmetries in mathematics.

1 x 8 + 1 = 9
12 x 8 + 2 = 98
123 x 8 + 3 = 987
1234 x 8 + 4 = 9876
12345 x 8 + 5 = 98765
123456 x 8 + 6 = 987654
1234567 x 8 + 7 = 9876543
12345678 x 8 + 8 = 98765432
123456789 x 8 + 9 = 987654321

1 x 9 + 2 = 11
12 x 9 + 3 = 111
123 x 9 + 4 = 1111
1234 x 9 + 5 = 11111
12345 x 9 + 6 = 111111
123456 x 9 + 7 = 1111111
1234567 x 9 + 8 = 11111111
12345678 x 9 + 9 = 111111111
123456789 x 9 +10= 1111111111

9 x 9 + 7 = 88
98 x 9 + 6 = 888
987 x 9 + 5 = 8888
9876 x 9 + 4 = 88888
98765 x 9 + 3 = 888888
987654 x 9 + 2 = 8888888
9876543 x 9 + 1 = 88888888
98765432 x 9 + 0 = 888888888

1 x 1 = 1
11 x 11 = 121
111 x 111 = 12321
1111 x 1111 = 1234321
11111 x 11111 = 123454321
111111 x 111111 = 12345654321
1111111 x 1111111 = 1234567654321
11111111 x 11111111 = 123456787654321
111111111 x 111111111=12345678987654321

One of the most beautiful songs, I have listened in recent times. A perfect semi-classical (I think so it is a semi-classical, if not please tell me). Lyrics are superb and sung in a beautiful manner. Thanx to Peeyush who gave me this song this morning and now it will be played in a loop till end of the day or till my group members force me to stop from torturing them (some of them don't like these type of songs) :D But do listen to it once and I can  bet you cannot stop listening it.

Last night I went with one of my friend to watch "X-Men, the last stand" in one of G7's, Bandra theatre. To our dismay we got 100 bucks ticket for a hall which was having seating capacity of 46 :( It will bad on its reputation to call it a theatre but home theatre will be more appropriate. But the movie was worth the money spend and after a long time i have seen a good English movie in theatre. One must see it. The actions and visual effects were superb.

It is really a painful thing to fail in any venture. But stll, the little gleam of hope coming from minute crevices of bad times is what keep the person going. A faltered step and person thinks thats it now its quits. Then a ray of hope and again he is on his path to achieve that. What a beautiful thing; that life giving hope, fighting against all odds that keeps the person going and striving for achieving something in life.

Music:dil ke armaan aasoonon mein bah gaye......

Saturday evening was a beautiful evening, cool breeze was flowing and I enjoyed it by taking a stroll at promenade and then like icing on a cake, I had two glasses of cold coffee at friend's place. A very wonderful preparation and I was having it after a long time.
Then came Sunday. I had to go to a friend's place for studying economics and accounts :( The starting was not too bad as I was trying to understand intricacies of economics. We started with Demand. Initially it was not that tough but when things came to Law of Demand and Effect of Demand on Price Elasticity the things started to worsten up. And all got out of hand when it came to Marketing. Enough was enough. I asked for much deserved break which she reluctantly gave. After lunch we started with Accounts. Until night I was all drowned up in Journals, Ledgers, Bank Reconciliation statement, Trading Account, Profit and Loss Account and Balance Sheet. Trying desperately to find out whether "carriage inward" would fit in P&L or Trading (and many more like this). And at last when I made the balance sheet, the amount was not balanced :((

I was really surprised to see no posts from "Soul of LJ", our own Peeyush re, for last 7 days. It simply implies something, somewhere is wrong with Peeyush. May be changing season or something else. Because he can live without food but without blogging, no ways.

Just wondering, what point someone wanted to prove, by brandishing of weapons (must be dummy, can't say for sure) which Ravi and myself witnessed day before yesterday in a religious rally. The dummy weapons included Kalashnikov (from distance it was looking like it), a hand held grenade or rocket launcher, swords.
